Company Carolina

Company Carolina is the only student-run theater group at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill that produces BOTH musicals and plays. Company runs on a
professional theater model, meaning that we are led not by presidents and
secretaries but by the positions found in professional theaters worldwide:
producers, technical directors, business managers, etc. We have been thriving on this
system since 1994.

“A series of biting exchanges by two ‘everymen’ in a bar, interspersed with scenes and monologues. While Filthy Talk (the title piece in the collection) is a canvas for philosophizing about sex and life and the meaning of it all, the other works in the collection are more about a specific moment – about now. Chekhov said that the day-to-day was the real challenge and that any idiot could handle a crisis, but LaBute isnʼt convinced. His work continually returns to crises, and the catalysts that give birth to these moments of turmoil.”
